133: John Kinda Sucks

Welcome back to Pursuing Pixels.  We're missing Randall this week, but the duo of Kevin & John are back together again to talk all sorts of video game goodness, so let's get right into it...
Kevin kicks things off with by diving into a handful of his favorite entries from this year's GMTK Game Jam, including a few from our pals in the Discord!
From there, John dives into a couple of Nintendo 64 games that he's been playing on the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pass lately — including 'importing' the Japanese-only Custom Robo games for the first time, and digging into some multiplayer madness in Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards.
With the multiplayer ball already rolling, Kevin & John dig into a handful of games that they've played together recently, both online and locally, with some of our pals and bandmates!

132: Level of Clunk

Welcome back to Pursuing Pixels.  This week, we've got a whole bunch of various video gaming goodness to dig into, so let's get right into the action...
Kevin kicks things off with his latest endeavors on Xbox Game Pass, including the incredibly stylish & mysterious Mind Scanners.
From there we kick things over to John, who's been getting a healthy dose of his giant mech anime fix lately, digging into M.A.S.S. Builder in early access, and dusting off his copy of Custom Robo on GameCube.
After that, Kevin digs into a couple of his recent livestreams that couldn't have turned out more differently than he expected going into them — including finally giving Spelunky 2 a fair shake, and going back to Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze.
Finally, Randall & John close things out with the latest on each of their Elden Ring campaigns, and it sounds like there's still plenty more where that came from!

131: Doing Hadoukens All the Time

Welcome back to Pursuing Pixels.  We're back to our normal audio quality levels this week and digging into all sorts of multiplayer madness, so let's get right into the action...
First things first, we dig a little deeper into Mario Strikers: Battle League after getting Randall's first impressions on the podcast a couple weeks ago.  Kevin & Randall also ended up playing through the entirety of TMNT: Shredder's Revenge together on Xbox Game Pass, after syncing up for their Strikers session!
From there, John & Kevin dig into an online multiplayer session of their own, after syncing up with their bandmates for some Steam Remote Play action!  The highlight of the night was definitely Pac-Man 256 — and we wrapped things up with Golf With Your Friends, after struggling to remember what the heck we played before the recording tonight...

130: I’ve Got it Baked in My Brain

Welcome back to Pursuing Pixels.  First things first, you'll probably notice right away that we had a little hiccup with John's audio this week, as his computer decided to record the built-in microphone instead of his Yeti — but we're rolling with the punches, because we've got all sorts of video game goodies to discuss this week...
Randall kicks us off with his early impressions of Mario Strikers: Battle League, as we find out how well this new entry in the series stacks up to the original?!  
From there, Kevin fires off a couple of arcade-y indie games from a couple of his favorite indie developers, PUNKCAKE Délicieux & Kultisti — Ecstatic and Curseball, respectively!
After that, we kick it back over to John, who has been thoroughly enjoying his time with Moonglow Bay, which has provided some much-needed 'low-pressure' gaming to go alongside all of that Elden Ring & Triangle Strategy that he's been playing lately.
Finally, Kevin wraps things up with a puzzle-filled 'metroidvania' of sorts, Elephantasy,  which has completely captured his attention — even after having to start the game over from scratch, thanks to a misclick...

129: Frisbee Volleyball

Welcome back to Pursuing Pixels.  We've got the trio back together again this week, so let's get right into the video game goodies...
Kevin kicks things off with Belle Boomerang, after having a blast checking out the first handful of levels of this awesome retro-inspired hop 'n' bop platformer!
From there, we move over to Windjammers 2, a sequel to an arcade 'classic' that Randall & Kevin recently dove into on Xbox Game Pass.  After that, we finally get to hear some of John's first impressions of Triangle Strategy after digging into a healthy chunk of the campaign.
Finally, Kevin wraps things up with Tinyfolks, an incredibly stylish & deceptively deep 1-bit, turn-based strategy game that he had the pleasure of checking out on a recent livestream while chatting with the game's developer, Pierre Vandermaeson — link to the video is in the timestamps!  :D
