Welcome back to Pursuing Pixels. We're covering quite the spectrum of games on this week's podcast, so let's get right into it... We're kicking things off with a discussion about the game that has virtually taken over Twitter (and the 'currently playing' channel in our Discord), Wordle. After that, Randall gives us an update on his retro gaming room setup before rolling into some early impressions on the recently released Analogue Pocket—something tells me we're definitely gonna be hearing more about this amazing little machine down the road! Kevin does his usual thing and spotlights a couple of addictive indies, FEWAR-DVD & Scavenger of Dunomini, both of which have plunged their hooks deep into his brain over the past few weeks—and also both coming from prior guests we've had on the show! Finally, John closes things out with Destiny 2, alongside some more of his thoughts about the shortcomings & limitations of the 'free-to-play' model, in spite of how much he's been enjoying the game...

Welcome back to Pursuing Pixels, and welcome back to another edition of 'Save it for the 'cast!' We're flipping the script with a bit of a front-loaded episode this week. Kevin spends a little time highlighting some recent updates in the Pursuing Pixels universe, alongside a couple of the best precision puzzle platformers to be released last year, Below the Ocean & ElecHead. Kevin also chats about a couple of recent streams we've been doing over on our Twitch channel before we spiral deep into some basketball talk once again, after Randall informs us of one of the biggest blowouts in NBA history.

Welcome back to Pursuing Pixels. This week, it's just Kevin & Randall on the mics, and we're back on our usual bullshit, so let's get right into it... Randall kicks things off with his thoughts on the latest entry in the Halo franchise—we don't play a ton of first-person shooters around these parts, and it's always nice to squeeze a little AAA gaming into the podcast every now and again. From there, Kevin gives a shout out to Bonito Days, which is a sort of Monkey Ball + Mario Kart hybrid that is absolutely dripping with style! After that, the two of us continue our discussion on classic Game Boy platformers with a chat about Wario Land & Donkey Kong '94—quite a stark difference from our discussion about the Super Mario Land series a few weeks back! Finally, Kevin highlights a few more games from one of his all-time favorites, Kultisti, and is once again blown away by the level of polish, creativity, and inventiveness that they continue to showcase again & again! :D

Welcome back to Pursuing Pixels, and welcome back to another edition of 'Save it for the 'cast!' It's our first episode of 2022 and we're kicking it off with a bunch of video game chit chat that Kevin, John, & Randall got into before recording last week's Holiday Episode! We get into all sorts of goodies, including our fears of what Nintendo is going to do with all of our digital Switch purchases in the next generation, the retro homebrew scene, the Wii U, Genshin Impact...we're jam-packed this week, so let's get things rolling!

Welcome back to Pursuing Pixels. We're getting one more 'core' episode in this year before the calendar rolls over into 2022, and Kevin is squeaking in his resolution game just in the nick of time, so let's get right into it... John gets things started this week with the very recently released Babble Royale—a super fresh take on the genre where John can finally hold his own! From there, Kevin digs into Jump Jerboa, another brand new indie that just hit the mobile app stores! Randall has also been dipping his toes into the latest entry to the Cruis'n franchise on Nintendo Switch, and he's been having an absolute Blast! After that, John spends some time in the realm of idle games, as he dives back into Clicker Heroes thanks to an ongoing conversation in the Discord, and follows that up with some thoughts on Universal Paperclips. Finally, Kevin squeezes in his 2021 resolution under the gun, and finally fires up Hyper Light Drifter and, while you certainly don't need to hear it from us...this game is freaking awesome!!

After that, Kevin and Randall dip into some of our musical background(s), look ahead to some of the games from Nintendo we might get to see in 2022, the game Kevin worked on at the start of the pandemic, and much, much more...

Welcome back to Pursuing Pixels. John and Kevin are back in the saddle this week and we've got plenty of gaming goodness to get to, so let's get right into it... Kevin gets things started with a couple of incredible indie shmups, Spectrum Forces and Viral Reload, both of which he's had a really tough time putting down lately! John springs for Nintendo's new 'Online Expansion Pass' and digs into the new Animal Crossing DLC, along with some of the new Nintendo 64 additions—we'll have to get Randall's thoughts on the Genesis selections soon! Finally, Kevin wraps things up with a couple of puzzle-focused games that he's also been hooked on as of late, Nojong and Evertried—the former, a brick-dropping + Mahjong hybrid, and the latter, a strategy-heavy roguelike with some supremely well-balanced mechanics.

Welcome back to Pursuing Pixels. We've got the trio back in the studio again and we're getting things started with the 'go-to' games that John & Randall have been firing up lately before we get into the meat of the episode... From there, Kevin and Randall play a little tug-of-war when discussing Mario's first couple of romps on Nintendo's monochrome handheld—how much does nostalgia play into the enjoyment of these Game Boy classics? After that, Randall crosses off his resolution game from last year's holiday episode, as he moves on from Ori and the Blind Forest over to its sequel, Will of the Wisps. Finally, we stick around in metroidvania-land and discuss Samus' latest adventure on Nintendo Switch, Metroid: Dread, which we've all been digging into...

Kevin kicks things off with Damocles Gaze, yet another incredibly addictive game from PUNKCAKE Délicieux. After that, John takes us over into tactics territory with the fifth, and latest installment in the Mercenaries Blaze franchise. Kevin also takes a little more time to gush about Dungeon Deathball, which has officially left Early Access after we had the game's designer, Matt Glanville, on the podcast recently. From there, John moves us over into a discussion about Genshin Impact, tackling everything from its predatory practices to its impeccable gameplay. And lastly, Randall closes us out after he finally feels *okay enough* to jump back into The Last of Us: Part II after nearly two years of living through this current pandemic...

Welcome back to Pursuing Pixels. This week, John & Kevin have a handful of awesome indies to highlight, alongside an updated all-time classic that slaps just as hard today as it did way back in 1999...so let's get right into it! First things first, John kicks things off with Murder by Numbers, which was his 'resolution game' from last year's holiday episode. John loves him a good Nonogram, but does this game add enough to the tried and true formula? After that, Kevin takes some time to shoutout a few incredibly expressive platformers that we've been checking out alongside our friends in the Indie Game Collective. Finally, we wrap things up by heaping more praise onto the fantastic THPS 1+2 HD remake, which John has been spending countless hours with on the Nintendo Switch!

This week, we're looking into the future with a conversation from the pre-roll of an upcoming core episode of the podcast—and we're ALL over the map!?! But before that, Kevin gives a quick shout out to a couple of awesome games from Wired Dreams Studio. And in the interest of synchronicity, we briefly mention our indie game book club, 'PP Potpourri'—as this is both the 7th week of the club, and also the 7th edition of SIFTC!
